Welcome back to Camp Life: The Blog! — your weekly roundup of YMCA Summer Day Camp fun across Long Island! Week 5 and the start of session 3 were packed with unforgettable field trips, high-energy adventures, creative expression, and plenty of summertime smiles. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from our branches.
Huntington YMCA
This week, youth campers got an epic surprise when Long Island Laser brought the action right to camp with an in-house laser tag experience! Campers teamed up with friends, darted through laser lights, and shared tons of laughs. Meanwhile, back at the Y, youth and kiddie campers kept the fun going with games, crafts, and sunny adventures that made every moment shine.
Pre-Teen, Teen, and Sports campers headed out to enjoy America’s pastime at the Long Island Ducks game—a field trip filled with cheers, snacks, and summer excitement.
Great South Bay YMCA
We kicked off the new session with high energy, big smiles, and even bigger personalities! Campers jumped into arts & crafts, worked with ceramics, and got creative from the start. Pre-Teens and Youth campers took the stage with Rockstar 101 and karaoke—bringing bold voices and fearless fun to the mic!
Teen campers took it up a notch with a trip to Jones Beach’s WildPlay, conquering rope courses and ziplines like pros, showing off teamwork and confidence. From first hellos to the last dance of the day, Week 5 was the perfect start to an unforgettable session.
YMCA at Glen Cove
Glen Cove campers were all smiles this week! Kiddie and Youth campers splashed around in the pool, glided down the slip and slide, and made memories on the sports court. From inflatables to arts and crafts, there was fun for every camper. A highlight of the week was our exciting Carnival Day, filled with games, laughter, and prizes that brought the whole camp together for a day of celebration. Our Pre-Teens and Teens had a week full of adventure with field trips to a Mets game, a pottery painting studio, and Xplore Commack, where they enjoyed games, attractions, and team bonding in a fun indoor setting.
Patchogue Family YMCA
Session 3 started strong at Patchogue! Our kiddie campers jumped into the fun with bright smiles and big energy. It’s also the kickoff of Patchogue Olympics, where every day brings a new team color—this week featured Red, Green, and Blue!
Youth campers showcased their talents and confidence in a camp-wide performance that had everyone cheering. Meanwhile, Pre-Teen and Teen campers stayed active with a trip to Ninja, enjoying an indoor adventure course and foam pit, and later, a visit to a Long Island Ducks game for some classic summer fun. To wrap up the week, our Teen campers participated in a special Community Helpers Day, volunteering with local businesses and giving back to the neighborhood that supports them.
YMCA East Hampton RECenter
This week was bursting with activity and imagination at East Hampton! Campers enjoyed crafts, gym time, dance parties, and plenty of pool fun—but that’s just the beginning. They also got creative during Lego time, zipped through relay races, and bounced through the day on the playground and inflatables.
Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers had an exciting lineup of trips, visiting the Long Island Aquarium, enjoying a summer night at the Long Island Ducks game, and catching a flick at the movie theater.
Back at camp, our Kiddie campers had a blast during a special visit from the Mad Scientist, and let their imaginations soar while dressing up for Super Hero Day!
