Camp Life: The Blog! – Week 7 Recap

Camp Life: Week 7 – Session 4 Begins!
This week marked the start of Session 4—our last session of the summer—and campers across all YMCA of Long Island branches jumped right in with energy, creativity, and plenty of smiles. From water balloon battles to career day costumes, every moment was packed with fun and friendship.

Our Kiddie campers kicked off the week with a splash—literally—with a water balloon battle, followed by Superhero Day and Wet & Wild fun featuring water slides, pool time, and more water games. They wrapped up the week in style with Twin Day, dressing like their camp bestie or counselor. Pre-Teen and Teen campers joined in the water balloon excitement, hit TopGolf, went bowling, and ended their week at High Velocity Paintball. Sports Campers sharpened their basketball skills with dribbling drills, obstacle courses, and shooting competitions before wrapping up with a friendly soccer match.

Kiddie Campers explored their dreams on “What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?” Day, celebrated “It’s All About Me” Day, and shared their love for animals on Favorite Animal Day. Youth Campers celebrated Future Self Day, Personal Hero Day, and Water Games Day. Pre-Teen and Teen campers ventured to Southaven Park, Dave & Buster’s, and the Long Island Maritime Museum, with extra fun on Water Games Day.

This week was a time-traveling adventure! Kiddie and Youth Campers enjoyed 70’s & 80’s Day, Rockstar 101, and 90’s & 2000’s Dress-Up Day. The highlight was a visit from Sparky, the New York Islanders mascot, who taught campers hockey skills, joined inflatable races, and shared laughs. Carnival Day closed the week with classic games and prizes. Pre-Teen and Teen campers also took trips to the movies and Deer Park Outlets, plus had a “camper’s choice” trip to either High Velocity Paintball or Plaster Kraze for creative clay painting.

Session 4 started with laughter, excitement, and fresh adventures. Career Day had campers dressed as chefs, firefighters, doctors, and more. Pre-Teen, Teen, and Sports campers took a thrilling trip to Adventureland for rides, games, and nonstop fun. Back at camp, Kiddie campers dove into a bubble-filled Foam Party that left everyone smiling from ear to ear.
With only a few weeks of summer left, we’re making every day count—one smile, one game, and one unforgettable memory at a time.
