Camp Life: The Blog! – Week 4 Recap

Wrapping Up Session 2 with Laughter, Adventure & Camp Spirit!
As we wrapped up the final week of Session 2, our campers truly made every moment count—from thrilling trips and creative crafts to dance parties and costume fun. Here’s a look at how our YMCA camps ended the session on a high note!
YMCA at Glen Cove
Camp was bursting with energy this week at the YMCA at Glen Cove! Kiddie campers had a blast with fun-filled theme days like Camp Shirt Day, Halloween in July, and Wet & Wild Day—complete with splashes, smiles, and summer vibes. Capture the Flag brought out our campers’ teamwork and friendly competition, and Camp Karaoke had everyone singing their hearts out and cheering on their friends!
Our Pre-Teens and Teens kept the excitement going with a trip to the New York Mets game, where they repped camp pride and cheered for the home team. To close out Session 2, our Pre-Teens got creative at Claynation, while our Teens cooked up something delicious at What’s Cooking. Our older campers also got to test out the brand-new rock wall, taking their sense of adventure to new heights. Throughout the week, campers across all ages tapped into their creativity and connection by making friendship bracelets—sharing smiles, stories, and camp spirit with every colorful knot. From the field to the kitchen, and everywhere in between, our Glen Cove campers ended the session on a high note—with memories made and friendships strengthened!
Great South Bay YMCA
This week was all about movement, imagination, and joy! Our Sports Camp crew brought their A-game to the courts and fields, while younger campers climbed to new heights on the rock wall and jungle net gym. Kiddie campers kept the fun going with sensory crafts and creative play.
We cooked up tasty treats (yes, dirt cups with gummy worms!), rocked our Halloween-themed outfits (costumes in July? Absolutely!), and unleashed camper creativity through colorful cactus and fruity crafts. The Game Lounge was buzzing with friendly competition, and campers had a blast in STEAM challenges and water slide fun.
Pre-Teen campers rolled through the week at United Skates of America and cheered on the Mets at Citi Field with our Teens. And to top it all off? Our Camp Talent Show dazzled with singers, dancers, and magicians—we’re SO proud of our stars!
Huntington YMCA
Campers at Huntington came in ready for action—and never slowed down! Our Teen campers raced through RPM Raceway, and our Pre-Teens were striking up fun at Lucky Strike Bowling. The energy soared on Touch A Truck Day, where kids explored fire trucks, police cars, and even a mail truck—so many horns, so many smiles!
Kiddie campers jammed with Music with Matt, shaking tambourines and singing their hearts out. Campers also got to meet the Islanders street team and take on their obstacle course, spin the prize wheel, and rep their Isles pride.
And we can’t forget another trip to Citi Field to cheer on the Mets—go team! From obstacle course challenges to musical moments and lasting friendships, this week was packed with all the magic of summer.
Patchogue Family YMCA
Patchogue campers wrapped up Session 2 with a week full of creativity, themed fun, and awesome adventures! Our Kiddie Campers dove into hands-on learning with Cup Stacking in STEM and climbed to new heights on the rock wall. Themed days brought extra joy with not one but two celebrations—“St. Patrick’s Day” and “Halloween” in July! Kiddie Camp was full of festive outfits, crafts, and camper cheer.
Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers made the most of the week with unforgettable trips to Long Island Adventure Park and Top Golf—where friendly competition and team spirit were in full swing. And of course, our Teen campers brought the energy to Citi Field as they rooted for the Mets under the summer sun. From local adventures to creative camp days, Patchogue campers definitely made this week one to remember!
