At the Great South Bay YMCA, Kiddie and Youth campers kicked off the week with lively picnic entertainment and a festive Fourth of July craft that brought plenty of red, white, and blue creativity to the tables. It was a fun and energetic way to welcome the season while encouraging imagination and self-expression.
In STEM, campers were challenged to build houses using magnetic tiles, putting their creativity, problem-solving, engineering skills, and teamwork to the test with every structure they designed. These hands-on activities allowed campers to learn through play while working together in thoughtful and engaging ways.
Our Pre-Teen and Teen groups had an action-packed week with trips to Topgolf and the Sayville Movie Theater, while Sports Camp headed to the Sports Arena for fast-paced games and friendly competition. Back at camp, everyone found ways to stay active, connected, and fully engaged in the fun.
To beat the summer heat, campers cooled off with pool time, swimming lessons, and a surprise favorite of the week—the foam machine, which brought big smiles and even bigger laughter. Some campers even traveled the world without leaving camp through hands-on activities that introduced them to different countries, cultures, and global traditions, adding even more discovery and excitement to their first week.
At the YMCA at Glen Cove, campers had an incredible start to Week 1 filled with spirit, teamwork, and adventure. From the very first day, the energy of summer camp was on full display as campers embraced new activities, built friendships, and created lasting memories together.
Our Kiddie Camp kicked off the summer with fun-filled spirit days, including Sports Day and Personal Hero Day, before joining our Youth and Pre-Teen campers for a special in-house event with the Game Show Guy. Campers teamed up to compete in age-appropriate trivia, relay races, exciting challenges, and lots of laughter throughout the interactive show, creating a strong sense of community and connection across age groups.
Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers beat the heat with a bowling trip and enjoyed an afternoon of field games at Morgan Park, where they stayed active, worked together, and made the most of their time outdoors. Teen campers also explored hands-on exhibits and discovered fascinating science at the New York Hall of Science, adding a meaningful learning experience to an already exciting week.
Back at camp, everyone stayed cool with time in the outdoor pool, tackled ropes course challenges in the shade, and kept hydrated while making unforgettable memories with both new and familiar friends. Week 1 brought together fun, exploration, and teamwork in all the best ways.
At the Patchogue Family YMCA, Kiddie and Youth campers enjoyed a wonderful first week filled with swimming lessons, new friendships, creative arts and crafts, and shaved ice to help keep everyone cool in the summer sun. The week was packed with fun moments that helped campers settle in, feel connected, and jump right into the camp experience.
Theme days brought even more excitement and helped make the week especially memorable, including:

These special themed celebrations added even more energy and creativity to each day, giving campers the chance to express themselves, celebrate together, and enjoy the shared spirit of camp.
Pre-Teen and Teen campers also headed out on exciting off-site adventures to Monster Mini Golf, Adventure Rope Park, and No Limit Ninja. Each trip brought opportunities for fun, teamwork, movement, and a little friendly competition, helping campers build confidence while making new memories with their peers. Altogether, Week 1 at Patchogue was a strong and joyful start to the summer.
At the Huntington YMCA, Kiddie and Youth campers had a fantastic first week making new friends, learning swim skills, and enjoying classic camp games like gaga. The week offered a great balance of active play, connection, and opportunities for campers to grow more comfortable and confident in their new summer routine.
Sports Camp hit the road to Topgolf and also enjoyed time back at the Y for swim lessons and time spent connecting with fellow campers. These experiences helped campers stay active while building friendships and sharing in the excitement of a brand-new camp season.
Pre-Teens took on Topgolf, while Teen campers explored fun and strategy at a board game café. Later in the week, both groups came together for an exciting trip to Dave & Buster’s, where friendly competition and arcade games made for a memorable shared experience. From start to finish, the first week at Huntington was full of energy, laughter, and meaningful moments.
At the East Hampton YMCA RECenter, Kiddie Camp welcomed a special visit from Wellness by Nature, who led engaging outdoor nature projects and taught campers the importance of caring for our environment. It was a thoughtful and hands-on way for campers to connect with the world around them while learning through exploration.
Throughout the week, campers also enjoyed swim lessons, arts and crafts, inflatables, and gymnasium time, keeping the energy high and the smiles even higher. Each day offered a variety of activities that encouraged movement, creativity, and plenty of summer fun.
Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers headed out for exciting off-site adventures to Scott’s Point, where they tackled the outdoor water obstacle course. They later enjoyed a trip to Dave & Buster’s, where they cooled off indoors while competing in friendly games to earn prizes and bragging rights. With a mix of outdoor adventure, creative activities, and shared experiences, Week 1 at East Hampton was an exciting and memorable start to the summer.
