Session 2 is officially underway, and what an incredible first week it has been across our YMCA of Long Island camps! Campers jumped right back into the fun with new friendships, exciting adventures, creative activities, and unforgettable trips. Here's a look at all the excitement from around the Y!

East Hampton RECenter

Campers kicked off Session 2 with plenty of smiles and sunshine! The week included reading time to spark imaginations, exciting slip-and-slide fun, swimming to beat the summer heat, creative arts and crafts, gym games, and bouncing fun on the inflatables. It was the perfect mix of learning, play, and active adventure.

Glen Cove YMCA

Adventure was around every corner at Glen Cove! Campers challenged themselves on the rock wall, zipline, and low ropes course while building confidence and teamwork. The week also featured swimming, an exciting Olympic Parade, a foam party, arts and crafts, sports, and reading activities. Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers also enjoyed a trip to cheer on the New York Mets, making memories they'll be talking about all summer long!

Huntington YMCA

It was an action-packed week at Huntington as campers kicked off Session 2 with exciting adventures and unforgettable experiences! One of the highlights was our Touch-a-Truck event, where campers had the opportunity to climb aboard, explore, and learn about a variety of impressive vehicles up close.

Our Kiddie and Youth campers were amazed by a special performance from the National Circus Project before trying their own circus skills during interactive workshops filled with juggling, balancing, and plenty of laughter.

Campers also stayed busy with a variety of activities throughout the week. Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers enjoyed choice time, giving them the opportunity to explore their favorite activities and spend time with friends. Teens put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test during an exciting trip to The Great Escape Room, while our Pre-Teen campers had a blast bowling and enjoying games at Lucky Strike. Campers also tapped into their creativity during Digital Art, designing unique projects while learning new artistic skills with technology.

Patchogue Family YMCA

Session 2 started with nonstop excitement in Patchogue! Campers laughed their way through the HollyRock Game Show, got hands-on during STEM activities by making slime, and explored their creativity through arts and crafts. Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers had two exciting trips this week—one to FGA Gymnastics and another to catch the Long Island Ducks in action. Campers also had fun showing off the latest "Top Trends," bringing plenty of creativity, confidence, and personality to camp.

Great South Bay YMCA

Great South Bay campers kicked off the new session with creativity and connection during our special visit from Woven Intent, where campers explored teamwork, self-expression, and colorful weaving projects.

Throughout the week, campers enjoyed Arts & Crafts, Gym, Outdoor Sports, Jewelry Making, and Origami while getting to know their new camp friends. Every day was filled with laughter, learning, and opportunities to build confidence.

Our Teen campers enjoyed a trip to the beach, while our Pre-Teen, Sports, and Youth 4th Grade campers stayed busy on-site with fun activities. Later in the week, those groups headed out to enjoy a Long Island Ducks baseball game, while Teen campers explored the beautiful grounds of Old Westbury Gardens and experienced the LEGO Exhibition.

When an air quality alert moved activities indoors, our campers didn't miss a beat! They enjoyed gym games, a movie in the Teen Lounge, and creative arts and crafts, proving that the fun continues rain or shine.

As Session 2 gets underway, campers across the YMCA of Long Island are already building friendships, discovering new interests, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. From creative projects and exciting trips to active play and confidence-building experiences, every day at YMCA Summer Day Camp is an opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun.
