We're officially halfway through YMCA Summer Day Camp, and what an incredible summer it has been! As we wrap up Session 2, our campers have spent the past four weeks making new friends, trying new activities, building confidence, and creating memories they'll carry with them long after summer ends.
From exciting field trips and hands-on learning experiences to themed spirit days, water fun, and camp traditions, here's a look at everything happening across our YMCA Summer Day Camps this week!
Our YMCA East Hampton RECenter campers had another fun-filled week packed with creativity, adventure, and plenty of outdoor fun. Campers enjoyed arts and crafts, cooled off on the slip and slide, played with bubbles, and spent time exploring the playground.
Our Kiddie Camp campers loved riding the seesaw and showing off their personalities with face painting, choosing everything from their favorite animals to beloved cartoon characters. Youth Camp campers enjoyed picnic entertainment, exciting games, indoor climbing adventures, and an interactive truck experience that kept everyone smiling. Our campers got to celebrate Campfire Across America this week and make a campfire at arts and crafts out of tissue paper.
Meanwhile, our Pre-Teen and Teen campers headed out on exciting adventures, including a day of golfing and a trip to the Long Island Aquarium, where they explored marine life and enjoyed a day of discovery.
There was no shortage of excitement at Great South Bay YMCA this week!
Campers had the opportunity to get up close with incredible animals during our Reptile Show, learning fun facts while meeting some fascinating scaly visitors. Many campers even conquered their fears by touching the reptiles, creating a memorable hands-on learning experience.
Our Pre-Teens, Teens, and CITs enjoyed a trip to the Long Island Aquarium, where they learned about a variety of marine species, watched the sea lion show, and explored exhibits featuring amazing aquatic animals.
Sports Camp and our Youth 4th Grade campers stayed active with swimming, created slime during STEAM activities, and built teamwork skills during our MVP Club special.
Campers also stepped into the spotlight during Rockstar 101, singing their favorite songs, cheering on friends, and building confidence while having fun together.
Our Kiddie and Youth campers celebrated Twin Day by dressing like their favorite counselor or fellow camper before creating colorful tie-dye masterpieces.
To wrap up Session 2, campers enjoyed exciting trips to both the Long Island Aquarium and Adventureland before finishing the week with an unforgettable Color Wars celebration. Campers participated in friendly competitions, team-building games, and an energetic Color Run that was the perfect way to celebrate an amazing first half of the summer.
Patchogue Family YMCA campers embraced the fun of Spirit Week by celebrating holidays all in one week! Kiddie Camp celebrated St. Patrick's Day, Halloween Day, and Valentine's Day, giving campers the chance to dress up, play themed games, and enjoy festive activities.
Campers also celebrated Campfire Across America Day by participating in classic camp games like cornhole, Frisbee Jam, and horseshoes while learning the importance of teamwork and camp traditions.
Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers enjoyed exciting trips to the Sayville Movie Theater and GR8 Skates, making lasting memories with friends outside of camp.
Back at camp, campers and counselors alike transformed into witches and wizards for a Harry Potter-themed day. Dressed in their favorite Hogwarts attire, campers worked together to solve puzzles and escape a Harry Potter-themed Escape Room created by our incredible literacy specialists.
To top off the week, campers celebrated Summer-Ween with a festive Trunk or Treat hosted by our amazing specialists, bringing together camp fun and Halloween excitement in the middle of summer.
Another exciting week at Huntington YMCA Summer Day Camp kept campers active, engaged, and learning through play.
Campers participated in a variety of activities including soccer, arts and crafts, and many other favorite camp experiences. Our Pre-Teen and Teen campers had a blast during their trip to Monster Mini Golf, while Teen campers also enjoyed a fun-filled day at United Skates.
Back at camp, our Youth and Kiddie campers enjoyed a full day of games and activities before welcoming their local Fire Department for a special fire safety presentation. Campers learned valuable safety lessons while getting an up-close look at the fire trucks and equipment.
Campers at YMCA at Glen Cove enjoyed another unforgettable week filled with camp traditions, exciting adventures, and summer fun.
Throughout the week, campers played Capture the Flag, celebrated Halloween Day during Spirit Week, and observed Campfire Across America Day by sharing campfire stories, enjoying s'mores, and learning how to stay safe around campfires during the summer.
Wet and Wild Day was a camper favorite, featuring the slip and slide, outdoor pool, water slide, and exciting water balloon battles that helped everyone beat the summer heat.
Our campers also had plenty of opportunities to explore beyond camp. Pre-Teen and Teen campers visited Empire Adventure Park, Teen campers challenged themselves at Activate at Roosevelt Field, Pre-Teens expressed their creativity at Clay Nation, and Teen campers learned new culinary skills during a cooking experience at What's Cooking.
As we close out Session 2 and celebrate reaching the halfway point of YMCA Summer Day Camp, we're reminded that camp is about so much more than activities and trips. Every day, campers are building confidence, discovering new interests, creating lifelong friendships, and making memories that will last well beyond the summer.
