Celebrating an Unforgettable Final Week of YMCA Summer Day Camp

What a summer it has been! As we wrapped up our final week of Summer Day Camp, campers across the YMCA of Long Island made the most of every last moment. From colorful theme days and friendly competitions to exciting trips, swimming, sports, celebrations, and time with friends, our campers ended the season with plenty of memories to take home with them.

Patchogue Family YMCA

The Patchogue Family YMCA closed out the summer with a week full of color, competition, games, and adventures!

Our Kiddie Campers celebrated Color Week during Color Wars, showing their camp spirit with Yellow Day, Purple Day, Wear Your Favorite Color Day, and Rainbow Day.

Youth Campers got in on the Color Wars fun, too! Their themed days included Red/Fire Day, Green/Grass Day, Blue/Water Day, and Yellow/Electric Day. Campers also put their skills to the test with the ultimate game of Tic-Tac-Toe. Give me an X! Give me an O! Give me three in a row! Campers had a blast answering questions, playing games, and working their way toward victory.

Our Pre-Teen Campers finished the summer with some fantastic trips, including Dave & Buster's, the Long Island Maritime Museum, High Velocity Paintball, and the movies.

Huntington YMCA Summer Day Camp

There was no shortage of fun during the final week at Huntington YMCA Summer Day Camp!

Kiddie and Youth Campers showed off their creativity during Cartoon Dress-Up Day and Family Member Dress-Up Day, and everyone got in on the excitement during a fun-filled Foam Party.

Our Pre-Teen and Teen Campers enjoyed outings to Lucky Strike and Topgolf, while our Teen Campers also headed to the movies. The week—and an incredible summer—came to a close with a special End-of-Camp Celebration.

Sports Campers made the most of their final days, too. They visited the Huntington YMCA main campus to see friends, swim, and have fun on the water slide. They also went bowling before finishing their week with more swimming, water-slide fun, and an exciting tournament day.

YMCA at Glen Cove Summer Day Camp

The YMCA at Glen Cove ended camp with a bang!

Kiddie and Youth Campers packed their final week with Camp Fitness Day, School Spirit Day, a scavenger hunt, and Camp Shirt Day. On the last day, campers turned their camp shirts into special summer keepsakes by having all of their camp friends sign them—a perfect way to remember the friendships they made along the way.

Our Pre-Teen and Teen Campers enjoyed some final adventures together, including bowling at Garden City Lanes and a trip to Dave & Buster's. Teen Campers also took on an action-packed outing to High Velocity Paintball.

Sports Camp finished strong by putting campers' soccer skills to the test. After building on the lessons and drills they learned throughout camp, participants brought those skills into games, a World Cup competition, and a round-robin tournament. It was a great opportunity to celebrate their progress, teamwork, and love of the game.

Until Next Summer!

From the first day of camp to the very last celebration, this summer was filled with opportunities to learn, play, explore, build friendships, and make lasting memories.

A big thank-you goes to our campers, families, counselors, staff, and everyone who helped make YMCA Summer Day Camp such a special experience. Seeing our campers laugh, learn, try new things, cheer one another on, and build new friendships is what makes summer at the Y so memorable.

That's a wrap on another amazing summer of camp. We hope our campers take all the friendships, confidence, and unforgettable moments they created with them into the new school year.

Thank you for spending your summer with the YMCA of Long Island. We can't wait to see you next summer!
